Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

Most sex therapy wasn't built with your brain in mind

Advice about “setting the mood” or “scheduling intimacy” can land strangely if sensory input, time-blindness, or masking are part of your everyday experience. I’m queer and neurodivergent myself, so this isn’t guesswork – it’s the actual starting point.

Not pathologised

Your neurodivergence isn't treated as the problem to fix.

Not worked around

Sensory needs and communication styles are worked with, directly.

Not one-size-fits-all

Specific to autism, ADHD and AuDHD - not a single generic label.

Autism

Autism & sex therapy

Autistic clients often bring a very particular set of themes and each one is workable, not something to mask through.

Sensory processing: Textures, touch, sound, light or smell that make sex uncomfortable, worked with, not overridden.

Literal & direct communication: Building a shared, explicit language for consent and desire instead of relying on cues that don’t land.

Special interests & stimming: where hyperfixation, routine and stimming genuinely intersect with intimacy – including in kink.

ADHD

ADHD & sex therapy

The ADHD-specific patterns that show up most often in sessions.

Dopamine & desire: Why interest in sex can be intense one week and absent the next.

Time-blindness: Why “let’s have sex tonight” keeps not happening,  and it’s not about desire.

Medication & libido: Stimulant medication’s real, common impact on desire and function.

AUDHD

AUDHD & sex therapy

Autism and ADHD can pull in opposite directions inside the same person – autism’s need for predictability against ADHD’s need for novelty. AuDHD-specific sex therapy is still rare to find; it’s a dedicated focus here, including ongoing CPD training in “The Science of AuDHD” (2025). I also have AUDHD myself.

Predictability vs. novelty: Structuring intimacy to hold both needs at once, not compromise between them.

Masking and burnout: What happens to intimacy when there’s no energy left after a day of masking.

RSD meets shutdown: How rejection sensitivity and sensory shutdown combine under stress.

Getting started

Sessions, in person or online

Sessions run online across the UK, or in person in Brighton, whichever suits you better. Most people start with a free initial consultation, a low pressure way to ask questions and get a feel for whether we’re a good fit before committing to ongoing therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

No formal diagnosis is required for autism, ADHD or AuDHD – self-identified neurodivergence is entirely valid here. And I totally understand just how long and inaccessible those waitlists are.

Yes, dopamine regulation, time-blindness, sensory processing, medication side effects and rejection sensitivity can all affect desire, arousal and how intimacy gets initiated. These are real, common patterns, not personal failings.

Yes, see Neurodivergent Couples Therapy for mixed-neurotype and both-neurodivergent relationship support.

Both are available – ongoing 50-minute therapy sessions, or a one-off 90-minute directive session for practical guidance if you’re not ready for, or don’t need, ongoing therapy. There will always be education embedded into my therapy sessions.

Not quite ready for Sex & Relationship Therapy?

I have created an in-depth online course that you can complete in your own time on neurodivergence and intimacy. Easy to follow and recorded like a podcast, so you don't have to read lots.
